Dr. Brance Barker
Brance serves as Pastor of Discipleship and Administration at Duncanville’s First Baptist Church in southwest Dallas. He’s grateful for the opportunity to serve at the church that his family had been attending for almost a decade. Prior to this role, Brance had served in the world of education for the last 20 years viewing that as his ministry field. He served as an educational consultant, working with Dallas-area charter schools at all levels of the organization, and had served in the role of interim superintendent and CFO, as needed. Dr. Barker served as a founder, charter writer, and a lead administrator of UME Preparatory Academy, a college preparatory charter school in southwest Dallas. Prior to founding a charter school, he taught four years in Grand Prairie ISD at a data-driven, pioneering fifth grade center. Prior to entering K- 12, Brance served eight years working for the president of Dallas Baptist University where he gained invaluable administrative experience at the university level. Brance graduated from Dallas Baptist University with his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, as well as his Doctorate in Educational Administration. He lives in Duncanville, Texas with his incredible wife, Michelle, and they are grateful for their five children. He enjoys reading, obstacle course racing, and going on adventures with his family. He is grateful for God’s grace and work in his life, and longs for others to experience the same in their own lives.
